Emblematic attractions of Istanbul

Istanbul is the biggest city in Turkey, by its location has been the capital of many empires throughout its history, this makes the city a warehouse of hundreds of monuments and tourist attractions.

Most of these monuments have been declared in 1985 a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and make Istanbul one of the world’s top tourist destinations. From eBooking we want to recommend some of the main monuments that every visitor of the city should visit before leaving Istanbul.

  • Hagia Sophia “Aya Sofya”:was a church that has been converted into a mosque, is the most important monument in Istanbul, its importance lies in its long history and its great attraction, was built during the time of the Byzantines between the years 532 and 537.Is located on the highest point of the city where we have one of the best views of Istanbul. The interior of Hagia Sophia is overwhelming and has two floors decorated with mosaics of the period of the Ottomans.
  • The Blue Mosque:this mosque is the most famous and visited by tourists in Istanbul, its name is due to the color of its mosaics. It was built in the era of the Ottomans between the years 1603 and 1617.The Blue Mosque is located in front of the mosque of Hagia Sophia, has five levels. Its interior is completely decorated with bright blue tiles.
  • Topkapi Palace: this palace is the work that best defines the power achieved by the Ottomans. It is a construction of more than 700,000 m2, with four courtyards and multiple buildings in its inside. The most important part of this palace is the Treasury, where they keep some of the most valuable pieces of the world as the Spoonmaker’s Diamond.
  • Galata Tower: one of the oldest and most popular towers of the world, from its top we can contemplate the whole city of Istanbul. It was built in 528 as a beacon and its height is 61 meters. It is highly recommended to climb the tower and enjoy the best views of the city.
